Who all is going to the Ice-out this year? I would definitely like to go, but would most likely need to bum a ride in someone's boat again. Anyone have an open spot in his or her boat for me?? I'm not for sure on going, but just thought I would ask to leave my options open.

I'm there. I'll never turn down an opportunity to fish early in the year! I'm sure Will will have room in his boat this year. After all, now you can put 17 people just on the front casting deck. LOL! [smilie=biggrin.gif]

I haven't missed one yet but my boat is also in a hundred pieces right now. As long as nothing major happens between now and then I'll be there. Not sure who will be on my back deck at this point, I'm assuming Dad.

We've had good luck over the 8 events down there, here are some highlights:
– we’ve won the traveling trophy two times
– we’ve had an MMA member in the top three every year w/ one exception
– we’ve had biggest fish a couple times
– we’ve won the individual prize three times (Schultz, tenHaaf, Schultz)

I would love to go but my wife works on Saturdays and I have the kids. Maybe next year. I am planning on an early trip to Webster before our season opens though.

Likely there is still ice but it should be going fast with this warm up. I have been watching the musky first boards and there is still just a lot of talking and no fishing.

From what I've heard, the backwaters of Webster is starting to open up.

Chae Dolsen told me on friday they still had 14 inches of ice. It will take wind ,rain and temps in the 50's to open up all the lakes around there. Im hoping for the Barbee chain to be open if they still have the outing on its due date. Chae said they will move it back one week if they are still frozen. Mike

Don Slagle voiced the same opinion to me: it's highly likely to be still ice down there on the normal date.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw all the rain in the forecast. It's going to be a true Ice-Out!

Yes yes, that wind and rain should do it with those temps. My lake is almost open as well. Every spring in the thing is going great guns and the creek mouths are way out into the lake. Another week here and we will be open. White lake is open past the narrows. I am assuming Muskegon lake is open past the Cobb plant so Macatawa should opening up real quick. Im wondering about Lake Diane and Round, Osterhout and Austin. Anyone have any news about any of those? 15th is monday. Mike
