So, as far as getting a team game-plan together…. the high is supposed to be 51 degrees with a 40% chance of rain. 👿 Does the lesson in Buck Perry's book still apply to this situation? If I remember right, he says to fish the steepest drops in the lake in the spring.

That is true.

However, you have to apply what you know about the fish as well. Most importantly what Buck wants you to do is think and not just drive around casting every direction (which can actually work on Webster considering it has 6+ adult muskies per acre).

Remember… It is MUCH harder to catch fish where they aren't than to catch them where they are. If you know where they are then you just need to trick them into eating.

Well, I don't know anything about these stupid fish, so I'm finished..

I don't think Buck wants us to think… That's why he wrote the book! So we wouldn't have to. LOL!

That is very Zen like philosophy.

Want to wish everyone that's going down to Indiana to the tourney good luck, wish I could be there. But we know you'll bring the trophy home. Give us a report as soon as possible, Thanks Steve

As Rob has mentioned there are four of us going down to the Ice Out. Does anyone know if the Barbee Chain and Tippecanoe are open now from the floodwaters? Part of the reason we are going is for the camaraderie, so where are people staying or where would you recommend? Are there any pet friendly places? I bought a white bichoen from Kingfisher and he likes to jump out of the boat, eat fishing reels, sunglasses and cell phones. I plan on putting him into someone else’s boat. Any volunteers?

Barbee and Tippy are still closed.

You have two choices in N. Webster The Lodge and Fisherman's Cove, here is a link the the chamber site – <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

If you don't have something booked already they are probably full.

Warsaw is 15 minutes away and is a good option – <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

Personally, I'm staying at a friends place on the Webster backwater.

It can come into my boat but I'm going to re-name it Precious. You know like Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs.

It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

Shortly after arriving in Will's boat, it'll have hooks attached and be going for a tethered swim…

To Everyone,

Thanks for the info. I think I'll leave the dog behind. It may look just a little weird if Rob and I check into a hotel room with a white fluffy dog. It would even be more strange if it was named Precious.

How big is the trophy anyway? We need to know so leave enough room for it in Rob's car. For engraving reasons, please note I spell my name with a K and not a C.

See you all on Friday and Saturday.

There's a pic of the trophy in this issue of Figure Eight – <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

It would be cool to add another MMA win and another MMA member's name on the trophy for the individual win.

Well we didnt repeat but we were close (and by we I mean Will). Only two 30"+ fish were caught out of 50+ people. A 34" by a guy from Chicago and a 38" by Will. Chicagoland Musky club took the team award because they only had 8 people while MMA had around 18 so they had a higher points/angler than MMA. Very tough day for most boats with very few fish seen.

Congrats on the "Longest Release", Will! Only guy to have his name on that plaque twice!

Yes, it was a very difficult day. Matt and I tried to find these stupid fish shallow, deep, and inbetween. We spent the day on Webster. I saw 3 fish the whole day, and they were all in about 2-4 FOW. And I was stood up for the date with my girl. I even threw my "trout spinner" for her!!! LOL! Well, there's always next year!

With 17 members we needed another fish! Unfortunately the first fish I caught was sub legal and didn't help us at all. Congrats to the Chicagoland chapter for taking the IOC trophy from MMA.

I wonder if O'l Buck would have caught a fish. I doubt it.
