The word on the street is that the Ice Out will be rescheduled due to ice. It is suppose to be 50 degrees and (more importantly) rain this weekend, so we shall see…

p.s. I would like to thank me for coming to the banquet. I thought I was terrific and really excelled this year. I am sure you all look forward to seeing me again next year….

Mutt rocks. Although I was a little disappointed he didn't make it all the way around to shake everyone's hand, thank each for our support of you, and kiss all the babies… I didn't get a chance to say hey, but thanks for the update eh!

I've never fished webster…if the ice out is still the 24th…and the ice has just come off, won't the fish be pretty sluggish or in pre spawn and very tough to find? I just have never fished for skies this early…any one want to chime in?

Yes I believe they are sluggish this time of year. But Will seems to know how to catch a few each ice out. But this year we all should score cuz we read the written word on fish location (Buck) right? Wink

There are so many fish in Webster that you should be able to find them, but yeah they will be sluggish. But hey at least they won't have seen a lure for a month… and they are used to seeing a half a dozen lures a day! I have had good action early season there, especially during a small feeding window that resulted in 3 fish in 15 minutes (including a 36 and 40 for my buddy on back to back cast)… we did work all day for that feeding window though!!!!

Sure all cold-blooded creatures like fish, reptiles, Bryan Saenz- in general they are all 'slowed' down by cold temperatures. But just like Scott mentioned, what this means is that there are activity periods, but they are extremely brief. But they are very catchable during these flurries! When they do happen, you couldn't tell from the fish that they are freezing their nads off down there, they will pounce on lures just like a pre-frontal June bite. The big difference in cold water is you will go long periods without seeing a sign of life- SO, you have to remain confident in your approach and technique and stay mentally strong eh! The good thing about Indiana early spring fishing is you don't have to see a musky in the flesh to maintain your confidence because you have SONAR, and the lakes have SHAD. And you will probably see muskies on your screen too- if you don't, it might be a clue to fish higher.

No somebody is full of it. Even if the ice was off the water… it wouldn't be 53 degrees yet!

The lakes on the north side of Indianapolis are still mostly frozen with water temps 40 degrees. I got out on the main river in Indy on Friday (White River). Good current so it thaws early. The water temp was consistantly 41.5 degrees.
