Ovid could be OK the panfish are usually quite cooperative… unless you want some to eat.

I'll do some research and see if I can come up with something better…

I would prefer to fish a lake that has good perch and Bluegill. Ovid has nice Crappie but that is a night bite. Michelle and I would like to attend if the date works. we plan on fishing for food this winter(Blue gill, perch and small pike and Walleye. Mike and Michelle

Yep, little ones…

There's really nothing centrally located. You need to go N, S, E, or W of Lansing to find something good.

Then again, we could just bring snow blowers and sticks/skates… Duke and Pete – you in?

So where is a premier pan lake??We don`t have to be on a musky lake.I know GUN is real good for big gills…..might get an eye or piker.Lake george or anywhere down in stueben/branch county has big red ears,etc..

Muskegon……….snug harbor ??I know it`s been awhile since I`ve been there and I know it`s cleaned up,but when cleaning the fish…the flesh was a little discolored(light tan)….big gills and perch though…

I have been perching the bay the past few days and I am trying to stay up on where the hot bites are. Maybe Saginaw Bay would work. I bet Budd would be a fun lake to ice fish!!!

Man… this is a tough one. With panfish, pike, walleye there are so many good local fisheries that it's tough to drive 1.5 hours to somewhere with the same thing that we have in our backyard.

I would love to get Ty on the water this winter so if there's a time an place set we'll try to make it.

Give it a few more days……….not seeing a lot of interest from other localities…………..doesn`t make much sense makin the BIG HAUL…..unless you were goin to go BIG and set something up with banners/educational etc…MMA etc/catch & release etc…and still probably not much a turn out for the effort……….kinda the way I feel about fish fest with the exception of doin it for the kids, dnr, handicapped, etc…

I`m thinkin GUN lake still close for us….folks want to travel, travel.I would like to go some place for some hand sized gills, etc…and gun has it.Plus it`s big and barretts cove is all 3-5 fow, punch a bunch of holes and go hole hopin. Also remember getting numerous flags with 14-19"smallies,plus some big rockies, and spec`s.

Probably will post something for the 10th of feb, close for me so i`ll bring some grub with extras for 5-10 people/kids etc..If more show an interest upon the date/lake….I`ll bring a litltle more or others can bring extra grindage…

I`m out for 2/3,2/17…..wk.

So I`ll post one for 2/10 GUN unless I hear of another/better idea, with not much more travel.

If I`m by myself………I guess it will be me and ROCKY..(the squirrel)

Dave have you caught the big gills on Gunn thru the ice before? I fished Budd lake last year. we got few small perch but we were after Muskie most of the time. I have seen nice blue gills along the weed edges there. I would guess that at least 5 spots on Budd would be real good for Gills . Mike

Yes……….It`s a good panfish lake.Have taken my wife there in early May also for gills.Huge flats…tons of edges.

Entering the lake from the road that straddles long lake also, simply park on the side of the road and walk out to the bay.You can go a couple hundred yards north, east,or west and it`s flats.Just have to find some bottom cover(kinda limited)some sparse weeds, and debris, branches, etc.Kinda reminds me of coldwater, and lake george.Just has something other lakes don`t.Pop about 20 holes and move around. You are mostly waiting for the fish to come thru your area.Feeding windows are usually pretty short, but you can sometimes get 3-6 BIG-medium sizers out of one hole,or nothing.

One day years ago with some MC buddy`s,4 of us got about 10 rockies,6 crappis.and around 30 gills/sunnies,with a few 3/4-1 LBERS.Had about 10 flags,not one was a northern or eye,about 6 smallies up to 19".
