I sometimes find it difficult to be civil with these people.
I was thinking Quagga mussels depleting the plankton levels would have an effect on baitfish levels and therefore predator species but I guess from seeing the size of fish out of saint clair this isn't an issue right now and I understand your reasoning for the improving fishery right now; especially as you move up the food chain. Thanks for the reply Will.

In some systems the would have that effect but that system is so fertile with the delta leading I don't think they have much negative impact.
I visit that forum occasionally, but very rarely post. It really is sad to see how uninformed many of our fellow sportsman in this state really are. I shouldn't have even posted anything in that forum, sorry Will, I know it was pointless and doesn't help the cause at all. Sometimes its hard not to spout off to some of the idiots over there. I've seen that "crayfish trapper" spew lots of garbage on that foum over the years, and I just couldn't take it.

Have at it. I don't like being the only one.
Don't worry ill have something to say to that Crayfish idiot claming the muskies have destroyed fishing on Murray…
When i was a child through my early teen years i didn't even know of the muskies in there. The tigers had flourished in there for years and yet i could still go out with my cousin and catch 15-20 bass and still average 17-19 inches..
Then i see rednecks parked in front of my cousins keepin illegal after illegal bass in the boat hmm wonder why bass fishing sucks

Ugh…This is why Duke is supposed to be covering that forum.
Duke – HELP
Sorry to be late to the party!
But nah you don't need no help man, you were CRUSHING it!!
I gotta say though, I think you guys are wrong about Firefighter. He definitely can say some inflammatory things (ha!), but if you notice it is always in response to some pretty dam foolish thing said by some muskie fisherman. Admit it- we are sometimes blinded by passion for the fish, and say things that DO NOT paint muskie fisherman in the best light. You know what I am talking about- you all have seen it and we probably have all been guilty of it at some point. This just happens to be something that really, really gets under Firefighter's skin and he will go off. I often agree with him- muskie anglers very often come across as terrible piss & moaners. (not in this current regulations thread though, which is great and hopefully its stays that way!). This is doing us NO good and I believe is actually holding us back from turning the muskie tide even more. But he is actually more reasonable, intelligent, and open minded than just about any of the spearing population that we typically see/hear.

Love the conversation. Interesting questions about the Tiger stocking too. Was it discontinued because of their short life span, or the more voracious appetite, or both??? or neither for that matter?
From all accounts it was a failed attempt to correct stunted panfish populations but the short lifespan and no possibility of natural reproduction didn't help the cause.
