Ive been taking a couple rookies with me the past 2 weeks. They have both since ordered new spears from Belle River. They both have stabbed small fish but only one of them have brought it up. Looks like it could be my last weekend with the warmth coming!!

I've got a newbie with me today, just skulled about a 30"er. She didn't stay on though, he's pretty bummed

Lol When i through the spear tge musky took off so fast the spear came out of its head, as it was flopping under the shack stunned

The last guy had a spare spear and hit it again, but when I hear this BS about how "our sport is a sure kill" and "only when we decide to harvest" I wanna [smilie=brickwall.gif] . I imagine the hook mortality of released fish in the darkhouse is nearing 100%! yet they like to argue "Take it from me, I was a CO for 20 years, the release mortality on muskies could be near 20%" But, go ahead and cling to your disproved theories to make yourselves feel better…

Hate to pick at a scab but can't contain myself. Saw in the MS Darkhouse Spearing forum that Firefighter posted results of their season contest. In the post he writes:

"To get political for a quick second, spearing is often under attack due to many misconceptions about our pursuit, one being it is "too easy". Well, after 5 years, hundreds of participants, and THOUSANDS of combined hours in the darkhouse, just 4 fish, yes FOUR have met or exceeded the magical 40" mark. 4. Yep, it's for us chest-thumping barbarians to kill all of the big spawning females and annihilate esox populations. But I digress…"

I was yelling at the computer YES, YES, YES YOU SOB, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's always someone else's fault. It seems the most difficult thing for any angler group to do is look in the mirror. Muskie anglers did it back in the 70s and paved the way for catch and release in all species.

Maybe none of the Pike are making it to 40" because they're all getting harvested at 30"….But that would be too logical for them to think about.
