I feel awful, absolutely pittiful. On 3-15-12 I went to Lake Hudson to fish Musky, thinking this was the last day of the season. I admit to targeting Musky, won't lie about it. I had no idea I was fishing out of season. This was my first time ever Musky fishing. Those who saw the picture I posted (later removed– thank god) this was the first one I ever got. It was only later I found out I was in violation of season laws. I should have paid attention to the rules and regs page better, I did not. I feel as if I had cheated the sport and dis-respected any and all who pay for their liscense. Those who sent me PM's and chewed my a## I had it coming. I would never intentionally violate any species. I made a mistake, and still feel horrible for doing so. I am new to the MMA, and do not want the reputation of being a cheater, poacher etc.. Embarrassed and ashamed only sugar coat how I feel. Respectfully Submitted Nick

Isn't March 15 the last day you could legally fish muskies, or did the season close at 12:01am on the 15th?
The problem is hudson has different seasons because its a broodstock lake.
Thornapple, Hudson, Bankson, and Round all close Nov 30 and open again on the last saturday in april.
Nick don't sweat it!! EVERYONE walking this green earth lives in glass houses…
I guarantee that fish you caught is absolutely no worse for the wear, and you learned a lesson, so there is nothing for you to give another thought about. Done.
Congrats on your first musky, on your first trip. Just look forward to April 28 and start thinking and working on another musky "first" now [smilie=biggrin.gif]
I honestly am more bothered by your statement that some people chewed your A$$ through PM's, I'll offer an apology on their behalf. We as muskie anglers tend to police ourselves pretty well and sometimes aren't too nice about it. They should have simply noted that you made a mistake and informed you of the season on Hudson.
As mentioned in the PM's to you, this isn't a big deal and you really shouldn't feel bad about it.
Don't sweat it and the fact that you caught a fish on Hudson is awesome (I feel that lake was flooded over an Indian burial ground and is pure evil).
Nobody has the right to "chew" on you and just take it as a learning experience and later this year the guys that were sending you PM's may send you a new PM asking what bait you are throwing…
I gotta be honest… the fishing regs book and the trout guide have a permanent spot in my rotation of bathroom reading material, and either it was a lake that I am not ever going to fish and didn't pay much attention to, or I was too busy "multitasking" to notice, but I never knew that lake was closed in November either! Yet another way to learn a lesson.
A couple years ago I was all excited I hooked 2 in one day, made a post only to be "informed" that the water temps were teetering on too warm to guarantee a successful release
All you can do is be grateful for the info and learn… (80 degrees would be that line fyi!)

Ok – I wasn't one of the A$$ chewers, but what bait were you using, and abouts where were you? (don't answer that). [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
