I was much worse without knowing it. Granite I'm promoting anything but that is one of the most mis understood aspects of Muskie fishing. Your never really ready for your first musky that is hooked badly. I own jaw spreaders, knipex, and long pliers… I had all but the hook cutters last year but you never really understand how deep the mouth can be until it happens. I used to joke around saying to myself if I would put my hand into a trophies mouth to ensure the catch… Lol I know better now for myself and the fish the release is critical I show my tools off to anyone Muskie fishing that is greener than me and always want to see the net they are using. I wouldn't know any better without this site it was always the first question asked.. I understand why now. 😀
