I've seen some strange things in my life, but I guess this now is at the top. My company is still working, they do anodizing for medical, military and other parts. Told the boss that my wife and I are going to turn 67 in July, it would be best for us to stay home, he understood. When the coast is clear I'll go back. We both collect SSN and everything is paid for, house, car and all that stuff, were lucky.
My double hernia surgery started as March 20th, then April 10th, now May 15th and I don't know if that's going to hold. My thinking is sometime in the summer or fall. I look at the boat and it's still wrapped and probably going to stay that way for awhile. I can't and shouldn't lift the batteries in and out of the boat. But other than this stuff I'm doing well and have nothing to complain about. What I would like to know is how are all of you doing? I hope your staying home and safe! Steve
It sucks how badly this has affected so many people who aren’t sick, let alone those that are of course. It’s maddening. There’s nothing worse for men and women of action, like most people are, than to feel helpless to be able to do anything. The fact that staying home and doing nothing is one of the best things we can do to help is a hard concept to grasp. I feel guilty because I’m able to work from home just as effectively as going to the office, so I haven’t really skipped a beat. Others are not so fortunate, and it’s hard to comprehend what it would be like to be out of work, especially for such a strange and unfamiliar reason.
Here’s to better days ahead, and soon. Take care
I'll agree this is strange. There is still a week in there that I don't remember going by, with constantly changing and updating the schedules from vacations, to school, and 3 different sports with events in at least 4 major cities. The amount of change has been immense but surprisingly not too overwhelming for any of the kids, or us parents! The biggest thing I am grateful for is that I did go to college to be a teacher, and I am being reminded daily of why I chose secondary ed over primary. My kids are needy! Also, I am very blessed that I can be home with them and not be distracted by too much work, and can keep them at their school work, exercise, and 4-H projects. Now if we can work some fisheries biology to a lesson plan…
It's a bit stressful having a wife that works in the emergency department in Grand Rapids, nothing too major has happened but there is certainly a daily risk having her there. WE are certainly happy to not be anywhere near Detroit right now, or our fears of her having to stay at the hospital for days or weeks would be real already. That might still come!
Glad to hear you made wise choices Steve! Good luck with your hernia surgery if and when it ever happens! and stay safe and healthy everyone!

I hope your wife stays safe. It's got to be a nightmare on the front lines.
Thanks Steve, so far so good. Supplies are obviously limited, but other than that, they are taking care of them as well as they can.
So far, Grand Rapids isn't getting overrun. There is a fair amount of worry, which brings a lot of negative tests, etc. But on the flip side of that they are not being inundated with the normal overflow of people that should have gone to their family doctor or just stayed home. Most of those folks are staying home, or using tele-med, and that is relieving a lot pressure on the emergency departments. Not to mention the lack of idiots that should have followed my dad's rule – "nothing good happens after midnight". Now, he never fished the hex hatch, but that's beside the point.
Hope you, and everyone else out there stays safe!

That is good news! But I guess if you fish with someone it has to be a family member? I hope people don't get crazy and forget some of the rules.
No. It has been clarified that you can fish with someone outside your household as long as social distancing is practiced
