MMA is moving the location of the May 20th outing that was scheduled for Long Lake. The outing will remain in NW Michigan and will likely move from Grand Traverse to Antrim County.

It was necessary to move the outing because of some political turmoil brewing surrounding Long Lake. The district biologist thought it would be in our best interest to steer clear right now.

Info will be coming soon.

Sorry for any issues this might cause.

North-West, my directionally challenged friend.

By the way this wouldn't have anything to do with the French would it?

Thanks… Too many thoughts going on right then.

We can blame the Coalition for the Liberation of Itinerant Tree-dwellers.

Can't remember the commanders name but he hangs out with some guy called Lunchbox or is it Tons-O-Fun?

No worries, Whillenholly will get his man – and the monkey.

Please understand guys that I have to be vague here…
There is some opposition to the stocking of LL by a very prominent local person who lives on the lake. This person had/has enough sway to deal directly with high level politicians who in turn can deal directly with high ranking DNR personnel. It is in the best interest of the prescription for the lake and the future of the stocking program in general that we not put a flotilla of musky presence on the lake to possibly/likely infuriate this individual to form a cause and recruit others. Right now it is believed that the matter can be resolved internally and to our benefit. If we were to challenge said individual we would be crushed like bugs and I am not exaggerating. I was asked by Mr. Rozich of the DNR in Cadillac to please not hold this event there at this time. I personally will defer to his judgement with no qualms whatsoever. I asked if he would like us as a club or as individuals to weigh in on this issue in its favor and he felt that it would be better at this time to "leave it alone". Mr. Rozich is very Pro-musky and I was glad to have talked with him, we have established a connection and plan to keep in touch on a regular basis so that we can keep abreast of each others movements. This is a very positive outcome from a potentially devastating political manuever. I for one feel good that we were able, through reputation, to be able to communicate with the DNR to benefit the stocking program. To that I say "good job to us".

I was dis-appointed because we won't be able to turn it into the media event/recruiting outing that I wanted. We should still be able to generate some local interest though.

I was looking forward to LL and Boone's later, but atleast we're still having the outing. Last year I fished on 6 Mile in the early season and got skunked (caught one gar pike) and my wife got the biggest backlash I've ever seen. Hopefully, better results this time. Stayed in Gaylord Friday night and drove over Sat early. Where are you all going to hold up on Friday?

Chain Olakes Motel
1401 M-88
Central Lake, MI 49622
(231) 544-6713

Campgrounds:
• Thurston Park
(616) 544-6854 RV Services:

I was not able to contact the park yet but I will try tommorrow and post the results. I had a lot of lead time for the other outing but now I am tripping over my own a$$ trying to pull this together. The event will come off no problem I just want to make it as easy on you flatlanders as possible. I know how scary these lakes over 22 acres can be 😈 😈

There is also <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]
">** you do not have permission to see this link ** I stayed there last year same weekend, 3 nice clean and well equipped cabins on the water. we were the only ones there last year very quiet, good dock and electricity by dock (bring cord), the price was nice and the owners even nicer.
ask for Della 231-544-6573. This is on Intermediate but you have quick access to the chain. I have pictures of the cabins and dock but dont know how to post.

I booked a cabin at Cedars Resort a few months ago here's their web page <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]
">** you do not have permission to see this link **
I drove over and checked this place out last year. Nice clean cabins on water with individual docks.

Lackawanna actually has 4 cabins but 1 is set back not on the water. Also depending on water levels you may have difficulties getting to BenWay and the rest of the chain via the channel from Hanley.

I reserved a cabin at Cedars a moment ago for the nights of May 19 and 20. I think she said all of them are now rented.

Just talked with Della Juracko at <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]
">** you do not have permission to see this link ** all of her lakefront cabins are still available. For those of you scrambling to find a place, these are nice cabins for $75-$80 a night w/docking. This place is right down the road/shoreline from thurston park campground/launch. 231-544-6573
