I am still looking for a high speed reel to burn bucktails with and I am afflicted with a left hand retrieve. Has anyone every used this reel? Any input would be appreciated.

Yes. For small tails it would be OK (#8 Colorado and smaller) for anything larger like #8 mag colorado on up it wouldn't be much fun at all.
Yes I have a very similar model and am pleased with it. I don't see me buying another one, because there certainly are other reels that will pull big bucktails and spinner blades easier. I was able to get mine half off which figures in to why I like it.
The pro's. You can cast just as far with it as anything else. The drag is solid. I holds a ton of line.
The con's. The location of the bail is not convenient and I seem to get very wet with this reel compared to some others.
I am not sure how much you are getting it for, but Gander mountain had a close out last week on last year's Shimano Curado 300DSV. It normally retails for $249 and was on sale for $149. This is a great real and deal!

With a drive ratio of 6.3:1, the line is really screaming through the guides and levelwind, and that spool is really spinning during a fast retrieve. I'm not surprised you'd get wetter with this than with a slower reel.
