I just received a report from a "knowledgeable" source. He lost a 28"ish musky on Gun Lake on the flat, north of the State Park this morning. He got a good look at it, and says it was NOT a tiger or a pike, definitely a true musky!. It ate a Rattle Trap, boatside, but threw the bait before he could net it. Also, I'm just wrapping up a project on the lake, and have heard a couple other reports from one guy that claims to have seen the same, "large musky" in one of the deeper bays last August and September. I would think that 28" would be a young fish? So some reproduction still happening? Anyway, I thought it was interesting, and wanted to share.

Always has been but not enough to sustain a fishable population. Frustrating… all they had to do was stop stocking but leave the spearing ban and there would be a fishable albeit low density population.
To clarify… East or West of the park? I would guess east since that's where most seem to come from.
