I know there has been (and maybe still has) muskies in Gun Lake. I heard of a Muskie washing up along the shores of Payne Lake in just the last couple years. High 30's. Sound possible? Take a look at the map of Gun Lake, and notice there is a small stream which connects Payne to Gun. (Payne is just across the street of Gun to the North.) Also a friend told me that in 2005, he had a Musky follow a white spinnerbait while they were bass fishing in Robbins Bay. He swears it was 5' long.
Also, is there any chance in the future to get this lake stocked again? Except for the Saturday boat traffic in the summer, this lake is great to fish, and has awesome variety of structure; weeds, shallow flats, rocks, deep, gravel. I've heard in the past that if MMA was in existence when the lake was stocked, it's possible we could have kept it going.

Odds of stocking are very slim and it is very unlikely that MMA could have done anything to save the stocking on Gun. Will it ever be stocked again? Maybe once the GLS get going but we're years away from doing anything more than building broodstock lakes and Gun wouldn't be a broodstock lake.
There was some spawning that happened in the creek and in Payne. There are still some fish in Gun that somehow found the right elements to reproduce AND avoid spears.
So… maybe someday but I wouldn't hold your breath. I would rather fight for other things than getting a lake stocked with muskies when no one wants them stocked there.

Do you have any guess to how many fish per acre might be left in Gun?
Fish per acre probably isn't the best measurement when talking needle in a haystack. Somewhere around 50 acres per fish or .02/acre and I'm probably guessing on the high side.
