I've been to Cass in the summer to see a native american setting his gill nets (and his piles of discarded rotting fish on shore), and I've been there in the winter watching another native american set up a pretty interesting shanty for spearing muskies. The spear guy was trying for a big muskie to sell to a taxidermist who would then sell the mount to a dentist or lawyer or bar owner.
I noted the article stated that native americans' spearing rights are not affected by the regs or changes to the regs. No suprise there. I don't really have an informed opinion one way or the other regarding native americans and how they take fish.
