Guys, we still need a couple more people to help work the booth for this show! A couple people for Saturday afternoon and Sunday for March 17, 18. I need to send in the worker list soon so let me know if you can work ASAP!!! Working the booth gets you free admission to the show and this is a huge opportunity to help out the club and the musky fishery in Michigan.
Come on guys, if you're in West Michigan please try to give a little of your time to work this show. This is the largest sport show in all of Michigan which means MMA has the ability to educate thousands of people. We really need your help and if you can spare a few hours to work the booth and see the show (for free). Please contact Jason.

J, you've still got me down for a shift on the Saturday, right? I'm going to bring Ethan along as well. I think it would be cool to have some kids in the booth. Now, I just have to get to photoshop and have him holding a nice ski!
I had you working Friday morning/afternoon…was it supposed to be Saturday?
Same booth. This time around we need to have lures and that type of thing in the booth. Maybe on the replica…
If you're working the booth your job is to talk to people about muskies, the benefits of muskies, the benefits of catch and release, the benefits of MMA, etc. Plan on talking to lots of people that really don't know much about muskies. You'll hear things like… "a friend of mine talked to someone in the DNR and there was a 84" muskie netted in Thornapple", "look at the size of those lures, those are bigger than the fish I catch", etc.
Directions to the show are on their site. See other posts about the Ultimate show.
Not to be Johnny Raincloud but… I'm really not sure about a TV/laptop. If it we had video of MMA guys working on DNR cooperative projects that would be really cool and I would be very happy to have that in the booth. If the video was educational, how to get started, etc. then that would be cool too. However, if we're just going to show video of people catching fish then what are we promoting? If we are selling the video then of course or if we are selling a guide business we would want photos/video of happy clients.
People at this type of show are drawn in by big lures, big nets, big rods, etc. all the stuff we take for granted.

I just feel that we need anything possible to draw in the crowd. If I look back at when I started targeting muskies, the last thing on my mind was how I could help the DNR. Brutally honest. I just wanted to catch a big fish. When my neighbor told me there was muskies in Campau Lake, I didn't ask him HOW they got there, or WHY there are there. I just wanted to know how to catch them. People get into muskie fishing to catch big fish. After they have learned a little about the importance of them, THAT'S when it's time for them to know how they could give back to the resource. I mean, look at the membership we have now. It takes a lot of twisting of arms to get more than just a handful of people to help with projects that we have going on. We can't expect any interest of any newcomers.

Exactly. Think of how much more they would be intrigued to see the actual people standing there are some of the people in the video/slideshow holding these big mysterious fish.
I'm not saying my opinion is right at all… I see this show as education to the masses and not really about member recruiting, helping people catch fish.
What will they learn from the video of slideshow? We already have part of the booth covered with member photos – Do we need more?
I don't know… I'm not convinced. It seems to me like the gimmick of having a bowl of candy in your booth… Sure people stop but they could care less who you are or why you are there, they just want free food.
Lastly… Who is going to put together a slideshow or video and put it to dvd? What do we play it on?

I was just thinking of using hundreds of member photos like a slideshow. The other option would be to use some of Jasons and Swanezy's vids from their Go-Pros. I agree, not a MUST HAVE, but if it gave us just a little more of an edge, what's the harm?
If we could gather member photos I have an idea…
