Think they'll be allowed to repair/rebuild after this?

What a shame. Any idea where they would be washed down to?

The Tittabawassee empties into the Saganaw River and then into Saganaw Bay.

I am pretty sure Sanford dam held but the Levi was breached. I don't know what that means for the fish but my bet is Sanford is now loaded with most of wixoms fish. I'm sure some went over the Levi though and down the titibiwassee. I was just fishing there like 2 weeks ago. I was excited about checking it out again but I guess not now. I feel super bad for the people that lived there.

And the people downstream. I hope no one got hurt. Many houses and other property are gone or damaged.

My guess is yes, the project could be permitted and rebuilt- but at an enormous cost that might be prohibitive.

Sanford Dam might miraculously survive, though it’s too early to tell until the water recedes below the damaged emergency overflow. If it does survive, the water will still have to be let out for repairs and to prepare for another possible storm event. The amount of debris collected in Sanford is staggering.

It will be an interesting time for sure. Boyce electric's response, bringing some lawsuits with the state into the situation, will certainly make for a long battle of who has to pay for what… but in the end, there will be much discussion about an inevitable outcome. Hopefully Sanford survived enough to be repaired at least. Duke may call it debris, I call it cover!

You guys think that stretch from Sanford dam to the midland tridge area could be holding more fish now? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part……also when I’ve fished in that section in the past I’ve always ran into shallow water heading towards Sanford….is it possible to make it to Sanford dam from that launch by the golf courses off m20?

I don't know what the river looks like now, or where all the fish that flushed down might hold up. Under normal water levels an outboard could not make it between Sanford and Midland. It'll be interesting to see what it's like when everything settles down.

If you haven't driven up to look at both lakes go for a ride, BOTH LAKES ARE GONE. All that remains is the river channel.
Wixom fish that got washed down into Sanford more than likely got washed out into the river below Sanford Dam.
If they didn't die, lots and lots of dead fish in peoples yards died from all the sediment in the water.
I know of one Ski that was caught downtown Saginaw last week, mid 40'… i'm assuming it came down with the flood
waters.
i'm hearing both lake beds could end up being golf courses…
