Looked this up on line, do you wear a helmet when you use this?

No it is just a head strap that goes over your hat basically like a headlamp would have. They have harnesses so that you can have it mounted to your chest too but I like it on my hat better. GoPros are heavily marketed to sports like snowboarding, mountain biking, kayaking, skydiving, etc so you see them on helmets in a lot of the advertisments.

Yea the only reason they are on helmets in most of the videos is because most people have their heads shaking so violently it would never stay on.

Strapping it on over your hat feels a little strange at first, but you get use to it and now i dont even notice it anymore

Anyone else considering the cameras should make sure your computer is decent enough to upload and edit large video files, otherwise you may be beating your head in waiting for the files to load up and save and uploading

I am far from an expert on GoPro but here is what I have been doing:

1) Ordered this charger and batteries from Amazon and they all work great.

2) I have separate 16GB SD cards but wish I had just got a 32GB. My concern was if one card got corrupted I would have another but I don't like changing the card out.

3) I try to stop and start the camera more often and that breaks the video clips into separate files. That way I only download the smaller clip that I need and I don't have to download hours of me casting and swearing.

4) If you get one…wear it! I can't tell you how many times I take it off or my buddy takes his off and then the fish shows up.

These 2 are key. The files are absolutely huge. 12 hours of footage will litterally fill up most of my available harddrive space on my laptop. Stop and start every 20-40 minutes and if something happens that you will want to use/look at it stop and start recording again so it is easy to find and work with. If you have a couple hours where nothing has happened I will usually delete what I have too and start over to save myself some hassle later. And of course, if you take it off because your sick of it something awesome will happen and you will regret not having it on.

yea just stop it everytime you change lures, have some form of action, and the files never get much bigger than a GB or so.. pretty easy to manage

Hopefully it works out as I want to get one also. I just think it is going to be more comfortable and like how it isn't such a wide angle lens.

What do you guys think of this angle for the GoPro?? I will be pairing it with a contour hat cam as well to get multiple views (If I ever catch a fish that is).

Makes you look like a giant….oh, wait….sorry! All kidding aside, yes very cool. Especially when paired with multiple angles for editing.

I think it would look a little better closer to the edge of the boat, and pointed outward just slightly. Make the left side of the screen so you just barely fit in it. And if it's closer to the edge, maybe we would be able to see some of the boatside action from this different angle too.

I cant really get it any closer as my console seat is in the way but can definitely turn it more so im right on the edge. The wide angle is decieving as i wasnt sure id be in the shot on that vid but yet had plenty of room to spare.
