Okay so I am ready to go now even though my stuff isnt…
I am looking forward to seeing some of you guys again at Cedars the place is always a blast, sadly I wont be making any other outings this summer because I wont be here. No its not bad news…
I have already shared with a few peoiple and realized there would be others on here interested as well. I will be going to Washington for the summer May 7th to July 18th to work for the Department of Energy at the Pacific Northwest Laboratory in Richland. For the first month I will be studying Salmon smolt mortality related to the fish passing through the hydro dams that are prolific on the Columbia river watershed. They have 20,000 smolts ready to go and we will be looking primarily at temperature change mortality and I believe compression/decompression as well. Then we will be doing a macroinvertebrate indicator species study along the banks of the lower Columbia to determine the efficacy of bioremediation efforts along that stretch. ">** you do not have permission to see this link ** and is actually fascinating (for the various scientist and chemist on here). That was where all the enrichment was done for the nuclear program back in the day. So I plan on setting up a photo link and a blog if anyone cares to follow my adventures… On the plus side is the Tiger program in that state, I have already hooked up with the chapter 57 guys and plan on fishing with some of them and maybe making an outing or two. Hopefully I will get a fat Tiger and make DU super jealous.
