Well I have had an interesting couple of weeks . I will spare you all the details but there have been several deaths closely related to the student body where I teach, including a kid who sadly ended his own life. Two fathers one in a crash involving a logging truck and one to cancer, the brother of the fellow who died from cancer killed himself the next day and then a students brother who was in prison killed himself, all in a period of 9 days. I missed the banquet for the funeral of the student and then drove to Ann Arbor on Tuesday for my appointment at the Melanoma clinic on Wednesday. All this has got me thinking hard about life and how we live it so I just wanted to say to all of my musky fishing compadres here on the site to please do the following this year:

1. Enjoy any and all time on the water, its not always about catching fish.

2. Sunblock and cover up, I know I'm not the first among us to deal with this, I didnt, and now I am sorry.

3. When you think someone may be in trouble dont let anyone dissuade you from trying to help.

4. Enjoy your friends and family they are priceless.

5. Practice items 1 through 4 above and repeat…

Heres hoping everyone has a great season

Kevin,

Thank you for putting things in perspective. Our lives are very fragile, and we tend to take many things for granted….until we are in danger of losing them.

The sadness of what has been recently experienced will build a quality in your life we all need more of…..compassion. May we all take your reminders to heart.

Just sat back, looked at the girlfriend napping, the lights of cars in EL going by and gave thanks for the life that I have.

Thanks for the reminder to take pleasure in every moment and to respect the vulnerabilities of life.

Sorry to hear about the tragedy in your life Kevin, hope things look up, and that you can look forward to summer nights on Northern Michigan lakes (one particular I can think of) chasing muskies.

Kevin, I'm truly sorry for the events that have happened to you in the past few weeks, things will get better. the steps you listed are some good things to go by. I really understand number 2. Even if you tan and don't think you burn, you need to lather up.
