I've been noticing that this time of year, I get far less follows. Back in the spring, I had days with 20+ follows at Murray. So the ? remains, would you rather have the 20 follows, because you know you're finding fish, or 1 strike and no follows. With only one strike, maybe you just found the 1 stupid loner fish for the day.

It goes both ways… seeing a fish is great and means you found a fish. However, it also means you did something wrong because that fish didn't eat and only followed. Maybe you can come back and catch that fish later but more often than not it means you just burned your one shot at that fish.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Although it is nice to know you're at least doing something right by getting a lot of follows. At this stage in my muskie fishing career, I'll never complain about getting follows, but it would be nicer to get a strike and possibly a fish in the net.

I'd rather get one good feel than a bunch of looks any day.

I'd rather just catch one….one so big that she displaced so much water that when I removed her for a quick pic the water level dropped so, leaving my boat beached in 6" of water. Of course, once I released her the water level rose back to it's original 6 feet. Cool
