Well, Steve's believer inspired me. Battle tested, ugly baits get me pretty excited. Here are a few fav's from deep in the box…unfortunately they have been touched up/re-sharpied/epoxied/glittered a bit since the season finished:

The top one (aka super shallow invader) has put a lot of fish in the boat, and is responsible for the single most savage and impressive strike-jump-headshake combo that I've witnessed. Worthy of an appearance on Discovery's "Air Jaws" documentary. Gives me chills as I type this actually…whew, good times. Surprisingly this lure has quite a high hook-up percentage, even with the whopping tail. Rule #201 of musky fishing – easy targets get whacked in the head!
The middle dude (raider invader) debuted with 282 inches of 'ski in a day, and has been a solid fish catcher ever since. Works best when fished slowly and the fish are off though, so gets intermittent wet time at best. Of course when they're on, roasting it is hard to beat, but that's the time to save a tail and throw something bulletproof.
The bottom q burt is on pace to eclipse my most-'skis-by-a-single-lure title before all's said and done. With the through wire I added, she should top the triple digit mark safely. Of course we've already been through 10 tails, 4 paint jobs, 15 or so ugly sharpie coloring jobs (the one pictured is 'butt-heinous bleeding glitter perch III'), and some minor body work to date. And there will be many touch-ups along the way…just enough to keep it ugly, but not so much to change that action!
I knew you guys would like the "Moneymaker". It was dubbed that because of a monetary, but friendly, wager that occurs in my boat quite a bit to make things interesting. But I can't take credit for the spinner idea, I learned that from an accomplished and respected fisherman named Mark. Although there have been many believers through my hands, that one obviously stands alone. I can't quite put my finger on it because I can come close to duplicating the action on others by changing blades sizes and or adding a split ring to the shallow eye. But they still don't have what the Moneymaker has. Maybe its a confidence thing. Maybe its because its had water in it for years!
