Well guys my wife and I separated so that's what brought me back to Michigan. I've always wanted a house on the lake and now I might have that opportunity. Cause of my health I mostly troll and target pike and musky. All I've really fished is sanford*, Budd and Ovid so I know you guys fish alot more waters. Do you have any lakes you think would be good for me to look at and just wondering what some oof your favorite lakes are in general. Thanks guys. [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
That’s a tuffy, what state do you want to live in? Ha! But it’s a very personal preference thing, what factors mean the most to you?
After fishing all over Michigan I can honestly say there’s no place Goldilocks enough that I would settle down with, but if you remove muskies from the equation there’s lots of nice places.
Ive spent a good amount of time contemplating where I'd wanna live. My conclusion has been that I enjoy being able to be mobile more than I would being stuck in one spot. Obviously there are a few areas with more opportunities, but certainly not an area of condenses good/great opportunities.
I personally like the ideas of the expanded waters on the west coast, and Muskegon river, but that is a long term plan, as is anything with muskies!
We have so many cool places to fish, I just can't commit to just one area!
SW Michigan: Somewhere around the Norton shores area would be cool as there are a handful of lakes right along the lakeshore getting a lot of stocked fish. You'd also be pretty close to the Grand River in GH/Spring Lake which is getting fish, but still seems very untouched from muskie fishermen.
SE: Anywhere on the Titt chain would be cool IMO and would be something you're somewhat familiar with. Seems like a decent amount of water there to keep you busy.
Northern MI: Living somewhere near Grayling/Gaylord would have you somewhat close to a lot of good waters. You'd be very close to Otsego, somewhat close to Antrim/Inland Waterway/and newer places like Winyah or the Ausable river impoundments, and then not too far from the UP where there are tons of untouched waters.
