I'm sure not everyone here uses the same knot, and everyone probably has an opinion on which one is the best. But being new to Musky fishing, I would love to get some opinions. I've broken knots throwing lures (luckily floaters) but not on any fish yet.

I use the Palomar knot and make sure I put the superline through the eye twice.

I use the Duncan Loop, it has about 95% knot strength and haven't had any problems. Steve

I use the Palomar to attach line to swivel with all superlines.

If you want some fish-geek entertainment check out Knot Wars. It compared all the best knots against each other with mono and superlines.

If you don't want to watch them all Round 7 is the championship and reveals the best line to hook/swivel connection.

A good link for seeing how to tie various knots:

Something else to note is that you should wetten the knot as you pull it tight and with braid I do not cut the tag end close because I have seen it slip a little.

The animated Palomar Knot, especially good for super-braid lines:

It's super-easy! Even a n00b can do it. Cool

HA HA HA [smilie=applause.gif] Steve, you crack me up. After a long day out in the sun working, you still manage to make me crack a big smile!
First, you say (confidently) how you use one knot and never had any problems, then you sound so frustrated with I can't get this thing to work

Hemi, your right, it's called operator error! Now you guy's have me worried, cause I changed to Cortland Spectron 100lb, so I have to change all my knots. My luck would be the fish of my lifetime and the knot would slip or break. My favorite saying is "I'm so poor I can't pay attention".

Ive always used the standard trilene knot or blood knot…whatever you want to call it. Ive never lost a fish or had a problem. On the other hand though, if the polamer is better…why not switch, it is easier to tie.

Checked my line for frays, and retied with the Palomer. How did I ever get by with that knot?? Easy to tie, easy to remember! Thanks to those who suggested it!
