Fair warning to anyone fishing LSC prior to June

Just wanted to warn all of you that there is a lot of tension and flat out childish behavior towards anglers that have decided to fish the LSC system for Muskie based on the new regulations earlier than June. I had the day off and went out to D. River to do a little Muskie casting but soon learned the area I wanted to fish was way behind with weed growth and no fish seemed to be around. I maybe casted a handful of times but then was forced back to the ramp due to lightening. After the storm passed I went back up on the flat and caught a bunch of smallies and then switched over to jigging up a bunch of walleye. Well, in the am I had a boat stop and they started screaming, literally screaming at me "you can't wait till the season opener to catch fish!!!" And then "hey asshole leave those spawning fish alone!!!" Before they opened up WOT on plane in a 100% no wake zone. Then, by the afternoon I start getting all these texts asking if I'm out fishing. Jason Quintano who was walleye fishing near me took a picture of me up on the flat with a Muskie Rod in my hand simply searching the flat to see if any fish have shown up. Jason put this pic up on Facebook and began to harrass me along with plenty of others telling me and others NOT TO FISH until June. I was attacked all afternoon on FB for Muskie Fishing legally on US waters with a legally registered boat. I was called every name in the book. Jason Q. has decided that the NRC has screwed up and it's his responsibilities to police the water prior to June for anyone out Muskie fishing. What Jason doesn't realize is last June opener fish were in full spawn mode and he didn't stop fishing nor did he stop when water temps in summer were 80 degrees dragging fish behind his trolling boat. He's since taken the post down after countless comments attacking me and me responding with no shame and telling him he can't dictate who decides to fish the new laws among other things. I would NEVER target actual spawning fish and was hoping with consistent 50-51 degree water temps maybe I'd find a prespawn fish. Anyways, to anyone out fishing LSC System prior to June please be aware that many people out there will attack and slander your name simply cause you're fishing within the law. Jason trashed MMA again and myself but I was happy to admit it was me out fishing and do not feel guilty for legally fishing. Jason wants to cast stones but I was fully within the law. He was not as this area we both fished is 100% no wake and after every walleye drift Jason would get up on plane and speed back up drift again. So he was the one actually breaking the law. We all might not agree with the new regs but Jason and others are not biologists nor do they dictate who can or can't fish. Those who decide to chase prespawn Muskies with CIR should not be slandered all over social media or intimidated on the water. So just beware…a few guys who I don't know messaged me last night and apparently 2 other Muskie anglers were verbally attacked yesterday near the Clinton River for casting for Muskies. This is not okay. I will not be intimated nor will I apologize fishing within the law. I care about conservation and preservation just as much as anyone else and chase fish of all species throughout Michigan and Florida each year. I would never target fish if I thought it was actually decimating the population! Just beware…the Muskie police (who are now giving us all such a bad rep) are out in full force to crack down and dictate new LSC law.

Sorry to hear it Scott. Hope you can still enjoy your time on the water somehow, and I hope none of these guys are so unhinged to do any personal or property harm. I think your COs should definitely be advised.

Duke is correct and Joe Molnar has been made aware of the situation happening down there.

Sorry to hear. I speant most of last year calling the rap line trying to fish the white river for steelhead. A few bad apples can ruin your day, i hope no one here lets it happen to them! Honestly kinda curious to see their response saturday when we are fishing for fish to tag for the dnr… should be precious 😈

You can text the RAP line also, which works especially well since you can send pictures. I sent them some pictures of a few guys recently keeping a stringer full of undersized, out of season, smallmouth's from the St Joe River while I was walleye fishing.

Thanks guys…unfortunately this happened but I won't let it prevent me from fishing again and hope it won't do the same to any of you.

It's really sad how grown men are acting like children on this topic. I could never imagine trying to publicly shame someone on social media like they have tried to do. I'm really sorry you had to go through all that and hopefully things get better out there. I hope lsc guys don't escalate things and start to vandalize or damage other people's property too. What kind of world do we currently live in where I'm afraid to legally fish a lake as I think my car or boat trailer might get vandalized??! I continue to see why so many other fishermen hate muskie guys and it really saddens me. People were even getting bashed for fishing this past weekend when they were helping the dnr with a muskie tracking study…just doesn't make sense to me.

It’s all a elitist this is my home lake idea coming from these guys. They are pricks plain and simple. They are all drinking the same koolaid eventually these guys will put there foot in their mouth. Kind of like a guy with the initials MH who apparently can’t keep his mouth quiet at a muskie show.
