Fisheries Chief Dexter requested a conference call with a small group today to discuss stocking and egg taking. Here are the notes:
Michigan egg takes for 2020 all canceled. This includes walleye, steelhead and muskellunge. The muskellunge egg take and UP walleye could happen if social distancing restrictions are lifted. It was stressed that this would be unlikely.
Stocking of fish currently in the hatcheries will be taking place as scheduled, though may fall behind slightly due to limited essential employees available. This includes the yearling muskellunge at Wolf Lake that will be stocked in late May – early June.
