This is just a dream, something down the road, Maybe!! I would love to do the thing at the hatchery, but I don't have any waders. Don't know anything about them, do you wear shoes with them? Do they keep you warm? What brand would you buy?

Second been looking at those Artic Armour suits. Is this the kind the Coast Gurd wear? I know your supposed to float in them! Do they keep you warm and dry. Something like this and I wouldn't weenie out on the Bruce. Just dreaming, maybe some day. Thanks

You can actually get pretty decent waders for cheap from most outdoor stores. I have some cheap ones from Cabelas as I don't use them very often. Definitely a lot of options for under $100 on waders. You don't wear shoes with them as the 'shoes' are part of the wader.

I will gladly loan you my extra waders if you want to go to the hatchery! I use mine about 150 days a year, so I always have backups
As far as the arctic armor, I am unsure if it is what the coast guard uses, but I got some last year, and it keeps you dry for a very long time, and is extremely warm. I usually don't wear the coat on the ice after I get out there and know its safe. It has also helped subside the dream I have every year the night before my first trip on the ice, which usually involves me going through on croton pond, and the current dragging me away from the hole, and being stuck. So It has lots of benefits!

Steve – just as JP said, if you want to go and I'm there I have extra waders if you don't have huge feet.

The CG wears Mustang anti exposure worksuits suits. Super warm and designed to keep you ALIVE in cold water. They aren't waterproof like Gortex outerwear but will keep you dry in a medium rain.

Same here Steve. I've got 1 or 2 extra pairs and can 'kind' of be on the way.
