I'm not trying to get on a soap box, just trying to see what you think. Yesterday before I caught the second fish I sat down in the boat to take a break and and 2 guys in a boat worked around me and I talked to them for 10 minutes. They belonged to the MI. Musky Hunter Club, I think they have about 20 or 30 members. Well I caught that fish at the back of the bay, had her in the net and being by myself all I get are pictures on the bump board. So I turned around and saw they were about 200 yards away and blew my air horn and waved to them and they didn't come back.
Another time on Hudson I saw a older couple catch a muskie went over and asked them if they needed help. They did no net, no tools. Everything worked out fine.
Alone again on Hudson, got a 48" pig, nobody around. Saw a guy at the boat launch, hit the air horn a few times. He probably coulldn't hear me cause he started his motor. Thought to myself if something happened, I'm in trouble.
Webster a few year back my buddy from IN. were fishing. I always watch other boats to see if they got something or what there doing. Saw a husband and wife catch one. Kept watching and didn't see them put it back in. I told my buddy something is wrong, so we put the rods down and motored over there. Got there and he was holding the muskie down, one hook from the bait was in the muskie the other was attached to his wifes finger, she look like she was going to faint. My buddy jumped into there boat with the hook cutters and got her loose and the fish on it's way. We told her we could get the hook out with line and I had 2 first-aid kits. She looked at us and was thinking I don't want anything to do with you guys. So they left and went to the hosptial. Later at the boat launch we ran into them and she said I wish I would have had you guys take it out.
I guess my point is, does anybody pay attention any more??
We do Steve, Michelle says she will photo your fish Any time and she carries lidocaine for those hook removals. She removed one from a kids head on Fluke lake and gave him two stitches and a couple pain pills. His dad was grateful. But it is not good that you have to fish alone Steve. We are not spring chickens anymore and accidents do happen. My wife does not like me fishing alone not just because she wants to go 😀 but because she worries about me falling in or having a heart attack etc. Michigan Musky hunters are on Hudson every opening day. They have about 12 members left that I know of. I'm sure John and Julie would have come over or Sean and Noji , Im not sure about any of the other guys. Mike
