I'm sure the fisheries biologists at MDNRE see right through it, but I worry about the NRC, which are political appointees with nominally no expertise, right?

Yes, the fisheries biologists at MDNRE do see right through it. They also know they will have plenty more to worry about with the return of state government corruption in 2011 and the anti-DNRE Engler clone politicians in control appointing the NRC members and destroying the state natural resources. It is very important to get a good Management Plan for Muskellunge as soon as possible.

Come on man… this was a normal talk about the problems associated with spearing muskies and you have to put a slant on it that doesn't belong.

HAHAHAHA!!! Your right the last eight years have been great for the DNR (now DNRE) not to mention the entire state of Michigan.

I wonder if the almost 1.3 million people out of work in Michigan hope the unemployment stays where it is now compared to those terrible days during the Engler administration when it was below 5%.

Here's a good graph of when we were all "blown away" after five years of the current administration.

Exactly the point. The corruption hatered of the anti-DNRE Engler clones is a grave concern to the DNRE staff. If we still had the Engler bastards the last 8 years the DNRE would be eliminated, end of any darkhouse or muskie discussions. We are fortunate a small DNRE staff was saved after Engler made sure the state would be destroyed for a decade after we got rid of him. Just hurry up and get the Muskie Management Plan in place fast before the MDAA join up with the Engler clones to completely end the muskie program.

Point? You didn't make a point. Please get some perspective on this. If there is no one to pay taxes and buy fishing/hunting licenses because residents are leaving at the pace of 100,000 a year that's a problem much greater than muskies. If there are no people left in the state in twenty years from now we won't need a muskie program or the DNRE. The state parks will all be closed and rundown… err… I mean the ones that aren't already. No one will come to visit Michigan, it really won't matter if we have any fish or wildlife.

The anti-DNR Engler and cohorts stole the 60% general funding for DNR programs down to 4-1/2% specifically to destroy hunting, parks, and muskie fishing in the state. He also gutted the DEQ budget from $110M+ down to $32M+ specifically to help his buddy polluters dump chemicals and manure in state waters and developers to destroy fishing habitats. That is why the DNRE staff hate the Engler administration clones and have grave concerns for state natural resources and public health. The Engler clones will do their best to destroy fishery resources for both spears and rod/reels.

I was kind of wondering about that… See it's moved now before we cause too much of a ruckus.

Yea, the John Engler clones may not want the rest of the world to know how they plan on screwing DNRE and Michigan fisheries again.

Tom – Give it a rest, the name calling just makes your argument look uneducated and silly. Everyone here will vote how they want come November, nothing you or I say will or should change that. You may feel that your vote will be cast for someone that is an environmentalist (be careful with this though some of these people are Humane Society supporters which is just PETA under a different name). Others may want to cast their vote for someone that will help the state recover from this mess Jenny got us into because they would like to have a job again.

The state needs to be run like a business by someone that knows how to run a business. The DNRE needs to be run by the biologists and not by the legislature.

Can we get back to talking about spearing and MDAA proposals that are detrimental to the fishery??????

Mission accomplished. I did what I was asked by DNRE staffer. The DNRE staff wanted to confirm which clubs are their political enemies and which clubs truely supported the state natural resources.

Tom – To be very CLEAR on this. My opinion isn't that of MMA as a group. This is a forum and if your "DNRE staffer" wants my opinion I'm happy to offer it. If your DNRE staffer wants to know the political opinions of MMA, well… there aren't any. At no time has MMA ever picked sides in a political race and it never will. Politics has no business in what we are doing for the muskie fishery here in Michigan.

Please note this next part I am speaking as MMA president:
I find it very offensive that you would infer MMA is an enemy of the Michigan's natural resources. I expect you to apologize to all of the MMA members you might have offended with this comment.

If you have communicated that MMA is an enemy of the state, to your "DNRE staffer", you need to be very clear that you based your opinion on that of one person in an organization. The track record of MMA and what we have done for the entire state of Michigan concerning the muskie fishery speaks for itself. If MMA is an enemy of the DNRE then I think the DNRE needs more enemies like MMA.

We'll be waiting for the apology…

I'm disgusted that you would even question that, regarding the MMA.
You definately crossed a line there.

WTF was that? Go cry about your anti-republican "Engler-Clones" somewhere else. Mission accomplished? Is that some kind of threat, r u serious!? Get over it, let it go, MMA is proactive, future / goal oriented, unafiliated with any party, with one clear objective. Read the mission statment…….now I'm gonna go cry about how I was beat up in fifth grade and no longer like people named bob or bob-clones affiliated with the white trash party. [smilie=2c.gif]

Tom,

You don't know me and I normally prefer to stay out of these conversations; however, I really need to second Bomba and Will on this.

This would be a great time for you to explain what you really meant, and to let all of us know what it really was you communicated to the DNRE. Are we interpreting correctly your post here on this website? If so, have you rethought any of this?

John

Don't worry, the DNRE staff has assured they will still somehow try to find ways to support the MMA muskie program the best they can in spite of being screwed over by any future Republican Engler clones . They will also smile and tell MMA what ever you want to hear politically at any meetings or in the field. The DNRE staffers know they must do this even if it is a lie to keep their jobs as they get closer to retirements. The older DNRE staffers my age never forgot how hard it was to do their responsibility to protect the natural resources of the state under the 12-years of John Engler and his anti-DNR&DEQ bastards Kool and Harding. They still remember how Engler and his bastards did everything they could to destroy anything the dedicated state staffers worked so hard for so many years. That is why DNRE staffers privately seek out support groups to get through the hard years. During the Reagan years the Federal employees joined the organization Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) which was first started by the US Forestry professionals. I was with the Feds USFWS at the time and watched the state DNR & DEQ MI-PEER support sky rocketed during the Engler years. My personal responsibility is to support my DNRE fishery and DEQ cohorts to protect the natural resources of Michigan. The DNRE needs all the morale support they can get right now while the Republicans screw the state employees and state public resources today and in the future.

Hmmm… that didn't sound like an apology. It also still sounds like you're taking one persons opinion for that of the organization. So… we're still waiting for that apology and for you to admit that you took my opinion as that of an organization.

Clock is ticking…

Is it me or did you point out that your cronies in the DNRE area the ones that are actually "enemies of the state".

Gosh… I sure would love to have names to go along with the threats so I could speak with the director and chief(s) about this.

Yes Will, we appreciate what you do and that's why you are president of MMA. The MDNRE also appreciates all the donations and support of MMA as a whole to keep the Michigan muskie program alive during this decade of budget shortfall. That is far more than the darkhouse organization has ever contributed to Michigan's fishery.

Wow… From one end of the spectrum to the other. So was this first statement a lie? Patronizing?

What I meant was we need to make sure we don't post anything that could help the spearers. I am glad this isn't public anymore and I don't need you to translate my posts for me.

(true, MDNRE appreciates what ever they can get from anywhere to survive when budgets are cut)

(true, but sometimes they're just sucking up)
