This might be a good place to note that you fish muskies on Hamlin Lake. Note that this is a lake with a water level managed by the park, so any comments on keeping the lake levels up and boat launches open through November would be appreciated by your fellow muskie anglers.
Public invited to complete survey on Ludington State Park's
General Management Plan
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources recently announced that it is seeking public input on a new General Management Plan to guide the future of Ludington State Park, located in Mason County. The public is invited to share opinions and ideas about the draft plan through an online survey, available until Aug. 17 at <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

The 5,300-acre park is situated north of the city of Ludington between Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake, and includes several miles of shoreline and beaches on both bodies of water. The park offers a variety of recreation opportunities including camping at one of three modern campgrounds, hike-in rustic camping, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, swimming and boating. The park features scenic sand dunes, marshlands and forest and is home to the Big Sable Point Lighthouse.
The General Management Plan for Ludington State Park will define a long-range (10 to 20 years) planning and management strategy that will assist the DNR Parks and Recreation Division in meeting its responsibilities to 1) protect and preserve the site’s natural and cultural resources, and 2) provide access to land- and water-based public recreation and educational opportunities.
This survey is one of several opportunities for the public and stakeholders to be involved in the planning process. The DNR also will host a public open house later this year, providing an opportunity for review and comment on the draft plan.
