Growing fast but not sure his assessment from the people he reached out to as a mid 40s is accurate.

Looks more like upper 30s possible 40

So big daddy Will,
You think this is a Great Lakes planter? I have seen other muskie pics(from years ago) from MAC that were not GL fish that had "different markings" than say a Thorn or Murray fish. They looked similar to this fish in my opinion. ?? What size do you think this fish looks like(ballpark). Your thoughts !!? TX -kid

This is a GLS plant as far as i can tell and there are others that are bigger. Some guy just posted on West Michigan fishing report trolling outside of the pier in shallow water and caught a few more 30 inch class fish tonite..

Seems a lot of them are being caught outside the pier heads

Mac fish will grow fast, and large. Looks 40+ to me, and the smaller of the fish he contacted out there that day.

That's a GLMUS for sure and 38-40. The spots on the fins are the dead giveaway. The NMUS had similar faded stripes but never spots on the fins that I've seen anywhere.

Them being around the pier heads is consistent with what the NMUS did. It only took a few years for them to show up in Pigeon. With the fish spread even further along the coast this time around, and the right strain, we're in for something special in ten years!!

Two from today.

That would be sweet to have a healthy population in pigeon… And a fun little lake to fish for them.

If so many are out past the pier heads how much of the population is sticking around on the inland side you think?

Who me? I liked that guess.

Seriously though, I think loose assumptions could be made about these drowned rivermouth lakes from what we've seen at Thornapple over the years. Some will wander and never return, many will stay, some will go and come back. Yes, there's a dam that keeps them from coming back to Thornapple but it's a ways down and gives them some room to stretch their fins but still be able to return.

I was just curious and didn't mind the response lol.. my bigger curiosity was that you mentioned they did that the last time we stocked them.. so i was curious if the DNR ever did any studies years later on Mac when we last stocked it with northern strain? Just to have a ballpark on pop. Density based on how many they stocked originally?

Several fish have been caught as far as saugatuck in the main lake and heard rumblings of a south haven fish or two as well.
