I'm looking for recommendations on a hotel for walleye fishing the Detroit River (early April). Instead of the normal one day trips we usually take we are going to stay a night and fish two days to make it more worth our drive. We usually launch in the mid river area (Wyandotte & Ecourse ramps). Obviously safety is number one, with price and being able to plug boats in at night being the other two considerations. Any help is appreciated!

There's a Red Roof Inn at Southfield Road and I-75 that looks like it may work, anyone have any experience there?

I asked a buddy that goes down there a few times a spring, this is his response:

"Have stayed at the Motel 6 in southgate, it is on Northline and Allen Roads, right by 75. They have a fish cleaing station there too. Pretty cheap, and clean… Plenty of other boats there too, and most guys are willing to chat about what has been happening and where."

That sounds better than the Red Roof, especially with the fish cleaning station. Just booked two rooms, thanks JP!

i've been to that red roof in…..the door frame was cracked like it had been broken into. Also, really cool that we had to charger the boat with the cord going out part of the broken frame haha. Good call on not doing that one.
