Anyone else enjoying the cotton on the water? I love picking cotton off my line, almost as bad as spiny flea on your line salmon fishing. Also loving the warm up, lots of powerboats chopping weeds makes for almost impossible prop baits or jackpot throwing.

I hear ya Corey! Every once in a while Ill feel a bump roll
through my reel or over my thumb and theres a cotton knot.

Side note…. spray that stuff out off your
central air unit also. Its like a cotton blanket around the unit.

Keep it off your reel particularly on the bar that holds the line guide. Just like ice in the winter if it gets piled up on the ends of that bar it will cause the pawl in the line guide to wear out quickly.

Funny you should say that, about the pawl. One of my older 7000's the worm gear and pawl just started to go. Didn't notice it till I casted and man was that nasty with the line stacked on one side. Few choice words were said, and now the reel is on its way to sportmans repair shop. Hopefully I get my Saltist back soon, I feel like I'm not even moving my doubles now.

Usually the worm gear is fine and you can relplace the pawl in about a minute and they're only a few bucks. When they send it back you should ask them to send an extra pawl. When I fished with Abu's ice and cotton would always cause me to replace old pawls.

Thanks, I'm not much on repairing reels. I will have another pawl sent back though, I figured I would have the reel cleaned and lubed, its seen alot of abuse.
