As Nick said at the banquet, these are the meetings to be looking for. I might be jumping the gun a little, and they might change the name, but I wanted to keep it fresh in your minds. If you weren't at the banquet, Nick Popoff essentially gave us a road map to accomplishing our management goals. And he urged us to do it, admitting that our goals are what is best for the resource but without us showing up en masse the local managers will continue to collapse to the pressure of the few local harvest oriented fisherman.
So yes, it is THAT important that we show up.
I know a lot of us are a little nervous about going and having to talk… Honestly you won't have to say much, if anything. A hand in support of proper musky management is all we really need!
Also, we are serious about making it an MMA trip for everyone, that meaning that your gas will be paid for! If you are going, find people in your area and bring car loads to these meetings. Also let me know, and if you are driving a car full of people we will send you a $50 Mobil Gas card to cover your gas. I can either meet you at the meeting or mail it to you!
I think all of the meetings are important, but we don't have a ton of people in northern Michigan, therefore we need to make sure we all make plans to get there!
I am sure the list of dates and places will be posted as soon as they are scheduled. But please try to keep these in mind, and make it a priority.
I am planning on attending most of these meetings. My gas doesn't cost me anything so it's free for me to drive up to 3 other people. I live in Spring Lake so I can easily pick up anyone in GR area before heading to the meeting. Hit me up if you're planning on attending a meeting and hopefully they're won't be a conflict with my schedule.
Rob
Here is a little map of where the meetings are. Hopefully we can get a LOT of people to the ones near Lansing/GR/Kzoo. The ones near TC and Saginaw aren't that far as well.

Will, what do I need to say to Sara Thomas to convince her to get a 50" size limit on Hudson? I've gotten a 51 1/2" and other 50's have been caught, plus 47".48" & 49's. Guy's don't say anything except to other muskie guy's. And if they do it's on lake X. Plus there's yahoo's down there that take anything. I know guy's that go out there after season is closed and just say there walleye fishing. I know everything that is going to happen will be for the good, but I want to protect it.

Simple. It's going to be the backup broodstock lake and should be 50" – period
With these meetings quickly approaching, what are the exact details of the regulations being proposed for muskies?
– Harvest tag being eliminated
– Harvest reporting mandatory, but without tag
– Catch and immediate release season open all year
– Harvest season state wide opening June 15
– Size limit in certain lakes changing (do we have a list of the proposed changes? Do we have the maximum size limit report Nick spoke about at the banquet?)
Do I have these correct? Anything else I missed? With CIR being proposed all year, are there certain restrictions on Torch River/Black River/etc? Are we (MMA) pushing for anything else (50" on Antrim chain instead of the proposed 46" as that is what the maximum size limit report showed)?
I just want to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I attend these meetings. Thanks!
