I think fricanos is an acquired taste. I grew up on it, so I have many childhood memories that involved the thin greasy pie. The cheese is unique, and the sausageis excellent. After filling up on this, you need to consume large quantities of water. I eat it a couple times a year when back in holland. I still prefer marios everything but, extra sauce, and a little extra time in the oven to get the cheese golden brown.
There was a period when marios went on the cheap and went away from real Italian sausage to some prepared/purchased stuff. It wrecked the pie. I complained several times, and others must have as well because they went back to the good stuff.
Anyone have any standouts on the east side? Tomatoes is ok, but has really gone downhill imohop. I do like buddies, but would not put that chain in with the pizzerias we are discussing. Heck, the south Lyon bowling alley makes pretty good pizza…

Here is a recent fine creation at the Austin Erbelli's, great pies. I would have to say that Geno's west in Chicago is my favorite pizza joint!
Best thread ever….
Duke- In the past the sauce used to be hotter with garlic and had a stronger romano induced saltiness. However the influx of wussification over the years in customer taste dictated a kinder gentler sauce (LAME!) apparantley for people who also suffer from the vapors (oh my!!!) You can always ask them to give it a few extra mins in the Oven I like my cheese just this side of black and the crust crispy. The Chicagos get a prebake on the crust because of the topping load and the fact they are cooked in a pan instead of on a screen a little extra makes them better IMO it makes a huge difference to Za aficionados as to who is on the oven that day.

Ha! 100% agree Adam, hopefully Brookshire will be a step in the right direction this year. I understand the idea in the past was to make the women happy, but there's got to be some compromise in any relationship. Maybe the compromise was supposed to be chick food in exchange for a night with muskie retards… just don't tell the women that and lets have some real food!
Back on the pizza topic- Scott I knocked Erbelli's off my list tonight!! Thanks for the tip- I have to say it is an extremely well done pizza. Actually, its a spittin image of MuskyPimp's Big Al's pizza. But it was cool to sample another local favorite of musky hunters. Just a dam shame there is not as much musky hunting going on in Austin anymore…
So getting back off topic- have all the Austin regulars posted their experiences here, before and after the spearing? As the hour draws near on regulations proposals and possible changes, I would like to hit the DNR in the face- again- with the great Austin debacle.
Yes now were getting somewhere guys!!! Banquet food that fills you up. That chicken lite and rice just didn't get it for us. We always stopped and got Burger King on the way home.
W e have several good Pizza places here in our Area. Scribs in Muskegon, Big Johns in Whitehall and Feed mill here in Holton. All make fine Pizza. So does Greek Tony's over by the Airport. But the best in my opinion here is Big Johns in Whitehall and has been for 30 years. Its been owned by the same family all that time. Mike

Your close enough to Fremont it wouldn't be too much farther to get to Spanky's. Actually Michelle works in the freik doesn't she! I do love stopping in there once in a while, best bread sticks I have ever had! And they serve beer in their new location… oh and the pizza is as good as a local pizza should be.
