Jason, my dad, and I spent most of this past Saturday at the Tri-esox show. While my dad and Jay were limited in how much money they could spend I came in with plenty of funds for new lures and a new rod.
I purchased a 10" WA Weagle, two regular Bull Dawgs, a Super Model, and a new 12" unweighted Suick. I also had ordered a custom 9' rod from PT Professional Edge Rods that was delivered to me at the show. It looks and feels amazing.
Jay bought an 11" Suzy Sucker, the Hook Pick, and the new Musky Mayhem DVD (which he watched on the way home and said was a nice video).
My dad purchased a small, all white Suzy Sucker.
Our family saw and talked to a number of MMAers, and we were just wondering what everyone else purchased at the show.
Joel
I bought double cowgirls, and similar type bucktails, also suzy suckers, triple d custom, a book, a dvd, a spinner bait, a shirt, a hook file, a pace maker….also make some decent trades at the lure swap. Actually, according to Queen fisher, I got a really sweet deal on one particular glide bait, can't wait to throw some hooks on it! Nice talking to all the chapter 47 guys, looks like alot of you made it there. Adam
Had a ball… Maybe the best sho yet. Talked to so many great people…
Definately did not walk away empty handed… Besides a wealth of information and stories:
Franks Custom Rods – Diamondback Jerkbait Rod
Daiwa Luna 300L Lefty (the correct and most efficient style reel)
Lakewood Lean Seat Tool/Bait Box
6-7 baits
Swap was great too. Picked up some good stuff for eBay
Kinda bummed its all in the past already…
Banquet is the next milestone!

Didn't they have any GOOD beer there? 🙄 😀
This was our first Chicago show and to start as vendors was a wake up call 😯 . Wow what a lot of people. We did just over 2 grand in sales and moved a lot of our new stuff. It was good to see many of you guys there and at the Lure swap. I won a new 8 foot 6 inch Okuma rod that will get some time this summer. Pastikas treated us fantastic,Al and Sue are tremendous folks and spending the evenings talking muskies with Larry Ramsell and the PMTT top gun team was real cool. We got a signed copy of Larry's new book and I was shocked at all the Record fish from all the way back to the late 1800's . Michelle was the Belle of the Ball and when she bonded with Linda Rice I knew great things were ahead for us. We are going to Lake of the Woods and Lac Suel this July . First two days with Doug Johnson on Lake of the woods and then 6 days with Rice and Marino on Lac suel. The Johnson and Pearson seminar on Sunday was very very good. These two guys put it on the table with a detailed overview of how to approach Lake of the Woods. Doug is getting up there in age and told me he wont be guiding much longer. All in all we got some new and neat toys for 2008 including a Bikini bait turmoil and a new Mag Weagle that should push some water. I also got two #15 bucktail blades hmmmm, I wonder what to do with those [smilie=thk.gif]
The High point for me was watching Bob Mesikomer call Michelle up to the stage. He introduced her as the 2006 muskies inc womens champion and had her demonstrate a proper figure 8. After that they ran a video of a guy who had a fish follow through about 8 perfect 8's and then thrashed the cowgirl back and forth putting foam in the water. The fish ate. It was called motion commotion. I never saw anything like it. Bob asked Michelle if that a proper figure 8. She says, it is now. The new Spinner bait that Mesikomer is building looks real cool and We have several coming. This thing really throws off some turbulence. The pool demo was awsome. All in all ther show was a grea time. We are going to do it again next year. Mike and Michelle
I got a number of new baits at the show but mostly were just replacements for my chewed up rubber. There were a bunch of things on my list that I wanted to check out but didn't.
Talked to my friends that I only get to see once a year which is truly the best part of the show.
Hemi – That's a Capt/Coke in my hand, the beer is for Luke Bryer (Muskie Mojo) and Steve Jonesi.
Got a Custom Carp Trueglide, two "Next Bite" videos, a Willey's spinnerbait, 3 HoosierHandmade Musky Baits and a Linder's Angling Edge video. At the lure swap I got a 60" cherry bump board. If I can avoid stepping on it, it will be very nice.
I went with Chad Sandy, Joe Bednar, Tim Donnelly and Cooper Smith. All were very cool to hang out with and are also very good fishermen. I also saw Jason and Joel and their dad, the King's, Ron Berry, Will, Trevor, and had some killer pizza at Gino's East with the guys including Tim Mottes, Mark Siwicki and Tim's boys.
I also spent some time talking with Joe Caudill and Rick Lax from Lax Reproductions and also Lee Tauchen at the Esox Angler booth. I also talked to a guy from a Crow Lake resort and Jody Mills who guides on Georgian Bay. I saw WAY too many #10 and bigger double bladed bucktails.

Luke Breyer owner of Muskie Mojo(left) and Joe Mellott (Twin Cities Chapter Secretary). Joe is getting teased because we (Mellott, Williams, Schultz and Schultz) donated 96 pieces of food for the food drive… we didn't win the rod or reel for MMA or the Twin Cities Chapter but we got some people fed.

– I just had to get that in there to tease Mike a little. Seems like every post he's made on here and other sites over the last month had that in it. Just some firendly teasing, no ill intent.

Devil horns not withstanding… 😯
😀 We laughed our butts off over those Pictures Will. I was promoting her all month before the show. I thought Muskies inc kind of blew her off in 06. Not much of an article at all and they really did a ton on Linda Rice. Michelle and Linda met and became fast friends at the show. Mesikomer brought her up on the stage and introduced her to the Musky world. I feel the Chicago show gave her the respect she deserved. Lots of big name people came up and congratulated her . It made her hard work in 2006 a little more worth it. Between Michelle and Linda they own all but one of the womens division records. That record is most Muskies in a lifetime by a woman. All she really wanted for her hard work was to be recognized by the industry as a good musky angler. I think she has that now. Special thanks to all who helped in promoting her season as one of best ever in womens musky fishing. She should rightfully take her place beside Rhoda Satonica, Sharon Crane, Linda Rice and Gals like Jan Reeves, Charlotte Fuchs,Margaret Pauling ,Pat Strutz and Libby Hoene as one of the best women Musky Anglers in the world today. I am proud of what Michelle has done so far. She tells me that this year we get to fish more. I cant wait to see what she does next. Having a wife like her gives me many opportunities to fish and be involved in the greatest sport in Fresh water fishing. Larry Ramsell told me quote(hang on to that gal Kingfisher, shes one in a million) He was right on . Mike
