Long was Chris' home waters. We had a bet last year on who could put more hours in on Long vs Elk. Needless to say there were many many fishless hours for the both of us.
There are definitely fish there, but its some pretty tough fishing. Naturalized population of the Northern strain fish from stockings several decades ago, just not very many of them. Beautiful lake tho with lots of good fishy looking structure and islands. Fun lake to fish if you're into the low density chase but not if your goal is to catch fish.
Cedar also has fish, but also at a very low density. These are a remnant native Great Lakes strain population that have always been there. There is a small non-navigable outlet connected to the west Grand Traverse bay that fish can pass through. I hear of a fish or two speared there every few years or so. The lake itself is more or less a bowl though so it's not near as fun to fish as Long.
