Yeah I would use them right there. I did use some 4 inch suckers (thats as big as they get up here) and got my first dog fish and had something run off with the other one but didn't get the hook set. The minnow came back with its head on one hook and its shredded body on another. There was a musky swimming around it but I wouldn't think it would eat something that small. Oh well it was pretty cool anyway.
