Michelle made a suggestion to me regarding the last outing at Hudson and future outings. With times tough and gas prices as high as they are what do you guys think about alternative dates for outings that fall on horrid conditions like 40 mph winds, lightning and sleet storms and such. Maybe all outings should have a date and an alternate date both listed and whoever is in charge has the call on whether or not to postpone to the alternate date. Not many people showed at Hudson as the wind was quite high and conditions were not good for fishing. This is just a suggestion for future outings what do you all think? Mike and Michelle

I think it would be a good idea. Just like there is always an alternate date for the ice-out if there is still ice on the first date at Webster.

yea i like this too, even though i never said i was gonna make the outing, hudson is too far for me on gas currently just for a few hours fishing. With the way the weather was I wouldn't even had gone out around here either if my boat was ready to go

This is good, whatever date is set then make the following Saturday as the alternate. I don't think any thing like this would have to be done for fish fest.

The idea of alternate dates is fine, just sucks that I work a lot of Saturdays.

Seriously though there are sometimes safety issues and something called common sense.

I know if there would have been lightning none of us would have been out there. The big storms that came thru the night before killed the fishing. I took the guy's to the back part of the lake. That area is a little bit better than the main part of the lake, a little less windy and when you wanted to take a break you could find a calm spot. Guy's I wish it had been better weather wise, I think you would really like this lake.

There are many problems with having an alternate date. Here are a few off the top of my head…

– someone (outing owner) would have to give up 2 weekends in a month for the outing – it's hard enough to find people that will own these right now
– someone (outing owner) would have to contact every MMA member in the event of a postponed outing – only 30-ish members visit the forum regularly so it can't be used as a contact point
– any arrangements (food, site reservations, etc) would have to be made twice with possible doubled costs

Very true, outings where cabins have been rented and such could not be changed. Mike
