I need to tap the wealth of knowledge that you all have. I am plannning a Canadian fishing trip with my 10 year old son and my dad for next year. Due to schedules, it looks like I would be going around the end of June early July. I want to get us on a pike muskie bite.

Do any of you have suggestions about what lake and lodge?

Thanks

Sounds to me like you are probably looking for action vs. fishing all week for one bite that might never happen?

So… I would consider Kawarthas, which will offer fishing for all species and from what I've heard the muskies are usually very willing to eat.

Another option might be something in the west end of the UP.

BTW – Get your passports ordered if you don't have them already!

Mark,

I was at Andy Myers Lodge last week (will try to post a report soon) and this place is about 19 hours from Detroit but worth the drive. It has bass, walleye, pike and muskies. I think your son would really like the pike fishing and you could catch them on live bait and I heard they have lots of numbers.

The owners name is Steve Herbeck and if you call him he can give you an indication of how they fish that time of year. I have an 11 yeard old son and I think bass and pike fishing would be lots of fun but you need a lot of patience for the muskies and I don't know if he could land some of the beasts that I saw up there. We saw (10) fish over 40 lbs and you would need to do some research on a good rig for a 10 year old boy. The amount of muskies that we saw was incredible and this place is pretty awesome.

The other place is Tornado's Resorts and I have been going there for 8 years straight about twice a year. The lake we go to is Smoky Lake and it is a fly in fishing place that has bass and pike but no muskies. This is mostly a bass lake but if you target the pike you can get them. They have electricity, indoor plumbing and it is a safe location. The smallmouth fishing is outstanding and we will catch (20) fish over 4-5 pounds every trip and my buddy caught a 7.1 oz bass this year and with four guys we probably catch (80) bass a day. I have listed the link below and if this looks like the place you want to go PM me and I can send you maps and all kinds of good information.

Good luck!
