I got this invitation from David Cates in Indiana. I'm unable to attend but I'm hopeful that some of you may be able to make the trip to give some support for the Indiana muskies that many of us take advantage of in the spring and fall.

Dear Indiana Muskie Enthusiast:
You are invited to attend a discussion of the status and future of Muskies and Muskie fishing in the State of Indiana. This meeting will occur at 9:00 a.m. on August 24, 2013, in the Columbia City Department of Natural Resources offices (commonly known as NERO). Those offices are located at 1353 S. Governor’s Drive, Columbia City, Indiana.

It is our hope and expectation that the meeting will serve as a springboard for discussion and improvements of the following:

1. Promotion of good fellowship and sportsmanship among men, women and children;

2. Dissemination of Muskellunge information;

3. Promotion of Muskellunge research;

4. Support for appropriate conservation practices based upon scientific merit and principles as carried out by authorized federal and state agencies;

5. Promotion of a high quality Muskellunge sport fishery.

To that end, we are inviting members of the Muskie fishing community, including clubs, guides and fishermen, together with resource managers and scientists. However, we do not wish to limit the conversation. Accordingly, any interested individual is welcome to attend and participate in the conversation.

A sample proposed agenda is included with this correspondence. While we believe the agenda to be full, please do not misinterpret that agenda as limiting discussion in any way. It is our intention to promote an open and complete discussion of the Muskie fishery in Indiana.
