I personally don't like the way he builds them anymore. Most of his newer one's don't run that well. Some do, some don't. I preferred the old plastic even though they broke apart quicker, they caught more fish for me and ran better in the water.
Ive found that on a lot of his newer ones the harness most of the time isn't even centered on the bait causing it to spin on it's side when you pull it. Or just not run the way i want it no matter how i bend them
The ones im referring to are all the Mag Dawg sizes

Anyone here fish a Thunderbeast? My buddy picked one up and it looks super sexy in the water. Wondering how it performs…
I like the Thunderbeast and fished Georgian Bay with a guide that swears by them. I lost an absolutely huge fish up there on one. The worst part was it was pretty much the only decent fish I saw. You can steady retrieve them or rip them.
(thunderbeast) I think they come in a 9" around 5oz and a 12" about a lb…i will be playing with them this fall for sure. (storm has put forward some decent lures for the money in the last 5yrs) I have caught fish off of kickin minnows and giant thundersticks on two different lakes) Unfortnately, I love the dawgs, mag Ds and super Ds are now made in a way where I have little confidence in the "swim" (or roll). I will buy economy dawgs if I want to save a buck IMO…..either way you do it, theres a big chunk of plastic in a fishes face at the right time, and wham…….
I struggle to catch fish on either. I have caught a handful of small fish on regular dawgs, but no love on the mags or pounders.
Rubber is an opportunity for me to improve. I have moved a good number of fish, and some good ones, but haven't figured out how to trigger them to eat with the dawg yet. Any triggering suggestions out there?

I have the same issue Scott.
My only Super D barrel rolls and I cant trim it neutral..
I have had rips on Austin Burning them in over weeds but no hooks, just shredded rubber.
Scott, the best thing that I could suggest is go out on Murray an campau and just stick to using them the whole time.
That is how I got confidence with them and learned them the best and what works for me.
I prefer to rip them fairly hard so I get aggressive strikes. The best part is when they hit magdawgs or anything bigger you know. Usually hit them like a freight train.
You can count them down in the summer if you are marking fish deeper. I was ripping hard on murray the other day and they were coming aggressive off the edge nipping at the dawgs.
As for the thunderbeasts.. I don't own one, but I was talking to the guys at thorne bros while at the chicago show. They were saying that he big gill's on the sides catch the hooks fairly often so they just cut them off. The tails give off a lot more vibration cause of their size. Just depends on people's preference.

Definitely good advice! Most of the time, I try to work my dawgs/superDs pretty fast in order to get aggressive strikes. You won't get as many follows when fishing them fast, but you will get more hits as the speed gives the fish less time to inspect the bait. Hard/fast jerks then reel up the slack and jerk again. Like Jon said, a lot of the hits are awesome (like in ricky's video) and it's almost like the fish are trying to pull the rod out of your hand lol.
I have an Econ dawg that swims perfectly through the water, nice kick out after the rip. I try to get all my other rubber to do that and I'm struggling to figure out just exactly how to tune that harness to get what I want.

If everyone does it, how are my dawgs going to stand out from the crowd?
when talking about tuning these damn things. I'm still trying to figure out his secret.
The Thunderbeast 9" seemed to run awesome straight out of the package. I'm ordering the 12" because I think they will do damage.
Dawg's and Dussa's are my best producing baits on Bankson and Long by far. This time of year on those two lakes is prime for finding deep suspended fish with big rubber. I caught fish last weekend at Bankson and Long over 30+ feet of water throwing Mag Dawgs. The bluegill guys were looking at me like I was crazy throwing giant baits out in the middle of nowhere (little did they know the panfish were stacked out there). For the last year my brother has kicked my butt when we fish together and all he uses is dawgs. Like any style bait just takes some luck to get some confidence. I no longer have ANY confidence in any of my gliders or jerk baits evn though I know they'd still produce if I stuck with them.

My favorite saying on this is… I'm leaving the dance with the one I brought.

I had one… I think I gave it away.
Actually, it's down in my basement! I'll put it up on the auction right now!
