Does anyone know anything about this? I was contacted by two different muskie fishermen wanting Budd Mudpuddle info for a tournament there this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Isn't it small for a tourney? Is it just some local thing? One guy is coming from Illinios so I wasn't sure. Is anyone fishing it? It might be a good opportunity to recruit some new members.

It's the Budd lake fishing derby, a family oriented event, there will be somewhere between 60 and 100 boats out there. they give away prized for the kids for panfish, they have a money prize for heaviest largemouth limit, and biggest largemouth, and a money prize for biggest legal muskie caught….I quit fishing this because if you caught a muskie you would have to transport it to the check in site for verification then try to release it.
Thats not good for the fish…..
It costs $25 to fish it, and if you do be prepared to play bumper boats and have other boats trolling, casting, and driving all around you.

The derby is a riot!! I have fished in it every year since I started musky fishing. I have only caught two muskies on tournament days and neither were big enough. If you go and catch a legal you will almost be garunteed a 1000 bucks. Good luck if you fish, and look for the guy in the tuffy rampage pitching the shallow invader.

Holy Crap! 100 boats on Budd, boy would that be great. 🙄 I hate that lake with three boats on it 👿 let alone 100. Do you get to split the pot if you net the biggest fish from a totally different boat than the angler catching it?
Thanks guys!

Dan–best of luck, I will stay on lakes with at the very least 4 digits when it comes to acreage.
