Thank you to all that braved the elements and fished the event. Weather seemed to have an impact on the turnout but the fish cooperated. 4 muskies (3 GLMUS) were caught the leader board looked like this:
1. 44.25" – Jim Dexter
2. 38" – Joe Bednar
3. 36" – Chris Allen
4. 30" – Jon Swanezy

Top pike – Steve Pedersen 26.5"

Good job guys. I couldn't pull the trigger. Got woke up about a hour before I had to, with a big boom right over the house that shook it. Stepped outside and lightning everywhere. Rain is one thing but lightning is another, call me a Wuss!! Embarassed How many people did you have?

Luckily the thunder and lightning stayed away. The 4 hours of 42 degree rain though… [smilie=bangtard.gif] . It did make for a good nap time for a few of the competitors 🙄 . I think there were roughly 16 anglers and a few extra people for lunch. Thanks to everyone that helped organize and contribute to the event!

We had a good time regardless of weather conditions. My Dad came down from Cheboygan to fish with me. We toughed out the cold and rain and hooked up with a very nice 40+ fish but she spit the hooks right next to the boat!
Didnt stick around for lunch, opted for a hot shower and warm house instead [smilie=cold.gif]

Thanks to all who bring us the Bruce every year, a great event as always and this year in particular, the excellent 5000 calorie lunch was warm fuel after the relentless cold showers.

At this point in my life I should know about multiple pairs of good socks and gloves, but once again I chose to suffer instead.

Showed up late and didn't fish but the conversations and camaraderie made it worth the drive. Thanks to everyone that came out and the good people who put on such a great event.

It was Def some brutal conditions and it threw the plan Ryan and myself wanted to do for the most part.

We were mostly unmotivated by the weather. At least we were able to boat one in the last 5 minutes.

If I didn't have family commitments I would have stayed for food and chatter.

Sounds like it was a good time and wish I could have made it. Had the boat hooked up and ready to go but had an emergency with my dog come up when I woke up at 3am to head down that forced me to stay home.

I love seeing the pics of those GLS fish from thorn. Its crazy how much environment affects the way these fish look. So far from the pics I've seen the GLS fish in there look to be growing healthy. How long until they attempt to begin taking eggs for the hatchery from thorn?

Last I heard they may come in next spring to test it again.
