-Jim tenHaaf extended a welcome to all members present.
-We talked briefly on the Grand Rapids Sports Show, and decided to have 2 Muskie replicas. Duke LeBaron offered his replica to use for photos with attendees at the show.
-Ideas for upcoming outings were discussed. We decided to try to have seminar speakers the month prior to each meeting. Duke LeBaron has agreed to give a presentation on Lake Ovid, and Will has agreed to talk on the Upper Antrim chain for the long weekend outing this coming fall. The idea of having an online chat room was discussed. We will be trying this idea instead of having a seminar meeting for the Lake St. Clair outing.
-The Ovid tournament date had been asked to be changed. This was discussed, and it was voted on and decided that the date must remain, since Mothers Day and Memorial Day fell on 2 of the other weekends.
-Education was discussed. Duke LeBaron has agreed to do a radio interview with Duran Martinez, host of the show “Wild Michigan”. The possibility of having brochures at sporting goods stores to hand out with the new tags was discussed.
-Will Schultz gave a short presentation on the details of the Hugh C. Becker grant submission. This grant was to receive money for information cards (creel survey forms) which will be put on 15 Muskie waters around the state. Each card will ask the angler pertinent questions to help the biologists gather information needed such as harvest rates, populations, and pressure. The submission has been made to the Becker foundation, and we will have an answer whether or not we will receive the money needed to fund this.
-Details of the Banquet were discussed, reviewed, and minor changes made to the agenda.
