Has anyone used these, or a similar style, on muskies? I was wondering if they're worth the cost. It would seem to be a safer alternative for both the fish and fisherman then hand inside the gill cover. Thanks for your response.

The way I see it is if you aren't comfortable holding a fish without them don't remove fish from the net. Photo in net and neither fish or angler is harmed.

It can be a good tool for unhooking but fish should never be lifted/held using one. Things happen in a split second when handling fish, something clamped on their jaw is just an accident waiting to happen. This is what a lip grip tool does, and this isn't even close to some I've seen.

I would suggest not buying one. Instead, go to the Pere Marquette River this fall and drift slowly until you see a salmon that got away with one. My buddy got one that way and he knows of one other person who found one that way.

Use the wrist strap, people!

Thanks for all the good advice. I knew the members would provide me with the correct information. This type of information is invaluable and a real perk of membership.

When will people realize that God gave salmon the perfect handle for landing… Their TAIL! It was meant to be. No reason to net, or grab with a boga on those critters.
