Hey comrades,

I’m interested in getting my 2004 Smokercraft 162 Stiletto recarpeted. I’ve called around and haven’t gotten anyone who is interested or has the time to do the project. Camp-N-Cruise said it would be 40 hours, but said I’d be better off trying to find someone else. They also said I was looking at around $125/hr labor for the work. I’d attempt it myself to save $4000-$5000, but I don’t have the space to work on it since I just sold my house and bought a smaller home in Grand Haven. I’ve even called around and asked some Amish if they would be interested and they said they only do pontoons. I didn’t realize it would be this difficult. If anyone knows someone who would be willing to do the recarpeting or if anyone is interested in doing a side job over the winter, hit me up! I estimated the square footage to be around 140 sq. ft., and I’ve decided to go with carpet bc I’m only planning on having the boat for another 4-5 years before I upgrade.

Thanks!
Rob

I've been looking for someone to redo my boat floor as well and it's definitely tough. One of my friends on facebook had his boat redone this past year by Few-Man Boats LLC. The boat looks amazing, the only problem is the company is located in Illinois.

Mine is bad, 20 plus years, thin and ingrained into the marine plywood or wearing through the higher traffic spots and edges. For what it’s worth I cleaned up a few spots and refinished them with flex seal last year. Seems super durable so far, not pretty including the color match to the blue carpet. I might try all the horizontal surfaces with it but wondering about how hot the surface might get on hot sunny days, maybe worse than carpet. It’s easy enough to apply in the spray version but the spot work shows the hardest part is removing the old carpet and sanding the surface down decently. I may still try it, can use fleck type products on the fresh sprayed coat to add texture for better footing on wet days. It’s tempting, but often the more encouraging a project sounds as I think about it, the more it turns into a complete shit show when I try to do it.

Thanks for the replies. I found a guy in Oscoda who can do it for $2500. Better than the $4000 estimates I got from the few places I contacted around here. I just need 5-7 more years with this boat then I’m upgrading.
