Went up to the Black lake sturgeon shivaree for the sturgeon season this past weekend. Had a blast, no sturgeon but one did get speared about 75 yards away from our shanty. When we went to register for the season at the dnr field station, the officer told me that if we got any muskie to bring them in so they could examine it. When I told him I wouldn't spear a muskie, we got into a pretty good argument about the subject. I guess it left me with a pretty uneasy feeling that we have dnr officers encouraging anglers to spear muskie. Hopefully not too many were successful!

That doesn't suppress me from a CO. Conservation Officers when compared to the Biologists are generally very different in their opinions about the resource. I would be interested to hear more about this if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM, it's important that the local managers know what's being told to the public. BTW – did he ask if you had a muskie tag??
