Could one or some of you guys share the pictures of the big fish of the past year here?
It was awesome when Will did it a few years back. The picture of Lee Tauchen with a Mille Lacs giant looking about 70 lbs. is riveted in my mind from then.
Thanks, Larry

Well, possibly for length… Man I would like to have seen her on a bump board… She may have hit 58??? But the girth on Richard Clarkes fish, and also that 56 from Georgian Bay… What pigzzzz…

There has to be a few sleepers out there on the net or within the possession of folks within our club that didn't hit the mainstream.

Thanks for thinking of me Duke (and Jim) Embarassed

Chad,

Your fish is not only long but looks pretty darn heavy as well by the strain on your arms and face. What a fish! [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]

There was a 59 x 28 that was on Muskies First for less than a couple hours. That thing was a real horse from the Larry. And for all the Muskies Inc. members, there is quite a few nice fish on the cover of January MUSKIES mag.

Along the lines of the topic, the latest MI magazine has a cover recap of large 2009 lunge log fish. There's also an good issue article with pics regarding the formal quest or lack thereof by many fishermen who have likely eclipsed the Minnesota state record. In other words, the catch and release philosophy typically trumps the idea of killing a 50 pounder in order to officially document weight leading to record procurement. There are some interesting comments by Larry Ramsell at the end of the article also. One noteable angler/guide in Mn, Jerry Sondag, who had 26 50"+ in his boat in 2009 said he might have to really think about it (no release) should a legitimate 60 pounder come to the net, however. It seems as though with some Minnesota lakes sooner or later "a 60 will be the new 50". Even with the obvious success of C & R I have read reports which said we are at the genetic limitation, for the most part, of adult aged fish attaining these
mammoth dimensions. Also contributing to this possible limitation of "maximum" size attainment are predicted problems with high protein forage in the future for some of these trophy Mn lakes. One can only wonder what the future holds for the worlds best muskie watters? Are some yet to be discovered? Is a new "virgin" Lac Seul of the 1980's out there?

This was discussed at length on MF this past fall. Lots of talk with varying views…

Chad,
Yes……….I see what you mean after checking out that link. Regarding the Steve Worrall comment and the reference data, I would really feel fortunate to be able to fish more than once or for any length of time the Larry, Ottawa, and Georgian B. Maybe a retirement goal for me? There was an article written many years ago by Larry Ramsell about Georg B saying the number of "lakes" within the Bay are practically limitless. Who knows what kind of size a fish could attain there with little or no fishing pressure, the right food source, and good genetic randomness? "What a day for a daydream", said John B. Sebastian!
