One of our sponsors/friends, Steve Jonesi, put a client on a giant yesterday in MN. She was 56.5"!
The pic is from Steve's phone that he took of the screen on his digital camera.

Some things that crossed my mind about fish this size… #1 what is the estimated age. #2 How much longer would it live? Long enough for someone else to have a decent chance at landing her? what if the guy who caught her put her back, and she ended up dying a day later from natural causes? He could've just saved himself a LOT of money doing a real mount vs. a replica.

??? A quality "real" mount and a replica are almost the same price these days.
Jim-
Alot of these things cross my mind with these fish as well, with the low fecundity of spawning females even a shot at one more season of egg production in my mind makes putting her back the best idea. If she dies a day later then the nutrient cycle is going to do its job and return her to the system. Not putting her back means a zero percent chance of survival. As for the mount I personally would rather have a life sized framed picture, then when people come over I can show them the sucker holding the Musky [smilie=brows.gif] 🙄
