Since your wallets are recovering from the Chicago Show now is the time to start saving those pennies for the MMA banquet. Don't forget to get those tickets mailed to get your chance to win a sweet Okuma rod!

Here are some of the things you might want from the banquet:
– a set of 5 Hoginators in St Clair colors
– Talonz Baits
– Brad Moskal's Bad Shads
– Lakewood boxes (new sizes)
– Llungen DC's
– Mayhem Cowgirls
– Hoosier Handmade Gliders
– Custom painted Jakes, Hellhounds, Believers
– a bunch of Shack Attack Curly Sue's and Suzy Suckers
– Bigfoot Depthraiders and Shallowraiders
– Okuma Rods and Reels (casting and linecounters)
– Big Joes
– A weekend on the Tahquamenon River with Pete LeBaron
– A Day (or night) in Will's boat on any lower peninsula lake
…and more!!!

Lots of clues will be available for free, it's a good place to make friends.

I went with Steve last summer, and he is a great guy! Good luck to the winner of this one!

It could be you!

I've crossed paths with Steve out there on the north end. The winner will learn some good water.

Being a complete naif, what is something like this likely to go for?

Most of our trips go for something close to their retail price. Depending on the guide and their location that could be 300-400 per day.

We've got three trips in the auction this year:
– Steve Kunnath (one day St Clair) this should sell for retail in the auction $400.
– Pete Lebaron (2 days w/ lodging on the Tahquamenon) this is a dream trip for many people and should sell accordingly – $1000+
– some guy named Will (1 day anywhere) I'm guessing $50 especially if Cyberlunge and MuskyPimp talk about the pain and torture of fishing with me.

Ooof! I'd better start saving for '09's auction… Embarassed

(I wouldn't go with that Will fella because I'd feel so inadequate fishing next to him… [smilie=bow.gif] )

Hay I got a trip with that Will guy a few years ago and it was great! I liked watching him chase his boat at the ramp. [smilie=applause.gif]

Hemichemi-

The smartest thing you could do right now as a newbie is get in the Boat with someone like Will or LeBaron. This will save you thousands in baits as you can see what has been proven over time and not waste money on all the gimicky stuff. It will also re-enforce what you are doing right and boost your confidence level it can also reveal a whole lot of things you might be missing or doing less than perfect. Other than a woefully understocked mini-bar and bad jokes fishing with Will is a pretty good experience. Just dont go in October when all the Jet Skis and pleasure boats are clogging up St. Clair.

I'm afraid if I got into a boat with Will or Pete they'd get so sick of my ignorance they'd throw me overboard, and that's the last anyone'd ever see of me! [smilie=cry.gif]

I'm pretty sure my wife still likes having me around… sometimes.

If I could, I'd sell it around here and be a kajillionaire!

But I won't give any to Will. 😈

Honestly there's NOTHING more gratifying to me these days than helping newbies! Whether it's my 3 year old son, or one of the middle aged walleye guys I took out last year for their first 'ski. A clean slate can be a very good thing for a good student!

This is just a clever ploy you use because you like to push people out of the boat — right? 😀

Well, if we ever get into a boat together, I'd be happy to listen all about ceramic fiber-embedded semi-permeable thermoset nanocomposite membranes… 🙄

Just a reminder to register early for the banquet and be in the drawing for the Okuma fishing rod.

Also, this is the biggest fund raiser the MMA has all year. So, if you can't make the banquet and still want to help, send in your ticket with the your desired amount (minimum of $25 – single dinner) and we will put your ticket in the drawing for the Okuma rod. Of course if you want to donate more please do so!

If you have any questions send me a PM.

I refuse to wear a rented tux like some guys will, so just a sport coat or blazer, ascot, and pressed dress slacks will blend you in the crowd nicely……..
